Well, I guess it's been a long time since I updated.
heh - hopefully people still read this thing.

Updates for the New Year:
Things are pretty much still status quo.
Nothing much has changed. "New" job is working out really well.
The production engineering group is made up of some of the coolest people.
So it makes working quite enjoyable. The multitude of projects keep me busy.
And in general work is pretty interesting.

As far as personal life. Things are going pretty well there too.
My parents come down to visit pretty often.
I hang out with my cousin a lot.
I finally got that car I've been waiting for.
I found a couple of college friends again...

And yet - for some reason - something is still missing.
I can't seem to quite put my finger on it.
But I guess that's what time is for.
To find that one thing that you're missing.

24hr Fitness

WEEEE!!!!!

I'm actually working out again.
Well, i took advantage of my work's 24 hour fitness deal, so now i'm a card carrying member.

So far i've worked out three days - and in serious pain.... but a good kind of pain. Haven't felt like this probably since college. I'm sure the novelty will wear off pretty soon. But at least for now - I'm enjoying the burn.

And it helps that i'm working out with my cousin. :-D

anyways - that's about it for now.

Not going to be coming home for Christmas or New Year's either this year.
My parents are coming down to spend the holidays with me.

Well let's see what's been going on...
i wonder if anyone still reads this thing - but anyways, went to Mexicali on Thursday for work. Did a day trip with my boss, and two other co-workers in the company car. Got to take a look at our plant down there. Funny to think that the first time I've gone to Mexico was for a day trip.
So spent four hours in the car going down - two hours at the plant - and then four more hours going home. All in all was a pretty interesting experience.

Other than that - work is pretty good - really enjoying work these days - i actually enjoy going.

So this weekend is a little bit of a respite - just cleaning and chilling. so that i can get cracking on my projects next week.

That's about it for now.
I'll update more later - this is all i feel like writing for now.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - bout half way done - it's pretty funny - just have to keep up with the dialogue

Well in the past few weekend's i've gone on an Anime Binge

So far i've watched

FMP:TSR for the second time (Can't wait for the DVD's to come out)
Great Anime - if you've never seen it - though the last episode leaves something to be desired - but up till then it's amazing.

Black Lagoon up to ep 13
Very Strange Anime - not really coherent through most of the episodes - but for some reason it's keeping my attention

Paranoia Agent
Can't really say i completely watched this anime - pretty much fast-forwarded through it and caught the important points - all in all not that great - for me at least.

For some reason i liked this anime - even though it's the standard robot formula - and the ending song is cool

I added an LED to the chest - cuz it wasn't lighting up that well with just the provided lights - and i wired in the head - so next on the agenda is to get a 4.5V ac/dc converter so that i can run this thing off a wall outlet instead of batteries.

Alright so here are the completed gundams, got one more in the pipeline - Sazabi - but there's so much red on that thing - i'm trying to find a better color scheme for it.

but in the meantime here is MK2 and Strike Freedom.
Nothing really special about MK2 - just a normal build gundam - took my time painting and panel lining - and i may add some led's in the future - but i'll leave it alone for now.

Strike freedom on the other hand - i wired up two led's one in the head and one on the chest to further light up the center - cuz with the built in lights it's kinda dim...
gonna add some more color to the wings at a later date - but for now it's finished - i'll take a few pictures with it lit up - but that's it for now.
PS the wings measure about 24 inches from point to point - so you can imagine how large this thing is.

Solid Works Training

Well, for about three days last week i got aquainted with solid works, did some online tutorials to get me ready for the four day training course that work has sent me to.

It's actually a really easy software to use. And you can easily make some pretty complex shapes and parts.

So after 1 day - so far so good - going kinda slow cuz the instructor has to get everyone to the same level, but it should pick up in the next couple of days. And once i finish the course - i have to go back to work and finish my design project that i started so that the shop guys can machine it and get it tested.

Labor Day Weekend

Well it was a pretty good weekend.
My parents came down to visit stayed with me from Saturday till Wednesday.

Saturday - They came in around 2pm, rested, went out to dinner, and just kinda hung out

Sunday - went out to breakfast, had a quick lunch - ran a bunch of errands. Bought some plants for my balcony so that it won't look so sad, looked for a picture frame for my - hong kong nightscape photo for the living room, and then went to dinner with my cousin Brian.

Monday - spent most of the day at laguna beach, and then had dinner oceanside.

Tuesday - took the day off of work - and just hung out at home with my parents.

Wednesday - went back to work - did all the tutorials for Solidworks - it's actually a really really cool and intuitive program - i think i'll definately be able to model a gundam in it one of these days. Seeing that work gave me a laptop - i might just hunker down and do it on a long weekend.

Thursday - pretty much the same thing - more Solidworks, gotta get semi-familiar with it before my week long training next week.

Well so far so good.
Got my first project yesterday. It's kinda of a bastard child project, something that no one really wants to do, isn't urgent, but requires some attention, so that's going well.

But other than that - just trying to catch up on my engineering discipline, it's hard to do, when everyone around you is an engineer, and haven't even used any engineering in a while. But luckily things are slow so i can catch up.

Got my temporary badge, got a tour of the place, my first engineering meeting, then i hunkered down and read documentation.

Holy Mother - the VSPEC test drive was awesome.

Got there at 7 in the morning - had a quick catered breakfast - and then it was off to a quick pep talk - and it was out to the race track at El Toro Marine Base.

The day was split into five events.
1st event was the accel decel w/ a slalom.
Pretty much just floor it and stand on the breaks - then when you catch your breath do a nice quick slalom.
Car driven - XLR-Vspec

2nd even was double slalom - low speed and high speed slalom
Car driven - XLR-Vspec

3rd Event Autocross
in groups of four take 5 laps around a 3 mile course behind a pace car
Cars driven - CTS-Vspec and STS Vspec - i got to drive a STS-V
i hit close to 95 miles an hour on the straight - unfortunately our pace car couldn't go too fast due to the stragelars....sigh.... but man it was fun

4th event time trial.
quick quarter mile loop w/ a starting slalom into a decreasing loop followed by another slalom and sweeping left.
Cars driven - CTS-V and STS-V
fastest lap time 22.711
my lap time 24.115
a little off the pace.

5th event - hot lap.
fit four people into a car for one lap around the course w/ a professional driver
top speed 130mph

all in all quite a damn good afternoon
thought XLR - over priced
thought STS - to fat and heavy
thought CTS - was perfect - nice balance - nice power in second and third gears.

Driving home today - in 100+ degree weather - i was enjoying my a/c when i look over at the car next to me.

there was a fairly young asian woman in a mercedes next to me - she was wearing a sleeveless dress, but on her arms were two fluffy sleeves and she was wearing one of those strange visors that can fold down and cover your face.

now this isn't the first time i've seen this - but this is seriously the first time i've seen a relatively young woman do it.....

sometimes i wonder where people come up with these ideas......

i realize that certain people have skin ailments which requires them to protect from teh sun....
but i doubt it was the issue in this case

So it's been a long time since i updated so here goes:

from the 7-9 went to Vegas for Brian's friend Sarena's bday. We fit 8 people into a suite in the Alladin. Was a pretty good weekend - everytime i sat down at a table i walked away with at least 25 bucks. At once point i actually let 160 bucks ride on one hand. It started as 10 which became 20 then 40 then 80 and then 160 - shoulda walked away but i wanted to see how far my luck would go - needless to say - it didn't go as far as i wanted - but i still walked away from the table with 25 bucks.

Other than gambling - we went to watch Phantom- was pretty good - very vegas - a much slimmer show - pretty much just the songs - but the phantom was seriously badass - he had that dark brooding ring to his voice.

Samsung A900

Well, i finally renewed my sprint plan...
Samsung A900 - same phone as dave....
Comparied to my Nokia N70 it's much thinner, and much lighter. But it's also a lot lighter on the features. According to Dave the A900 can only accept sound files in AAC format, and i found out on my own, that even though it's bluetooth, it won't sync with a MAC..

But All in all it's still a really neat phone, can't wait till the network stuff kick's in, then i can have live TV and schtuff...

It's about a 15 year old girl who was diagnosed with Spinocerebellar Degeneration.

It's a really sad drama, and a really good one at the same time.
I dont' want to really say anything about it - just wanted to peak people's interest to watch it.

St Louis

So i'm back from St. Louis
I went over there for my Cousin's Graduation from Washington University.
She graduated Suma Cum Laude... and is going to work for CIBC.
So Congrats to her.

So other than the Grauduation, we spent 3 fun days in St. Louis.
So i arrived around 10Pm on thursday night.
Once i got there - i jumped in a cab and headed to the hotel (Harrah's)
In the cab - i talked to the cabbie for a while - turns out he was from Long Beach...
heh small world - he said he lived there for about three years. And couldn't handle the traffic anymore. So he headed to St. Louis.

Once I arrived at the hotel, i met up with my Uncle and he treated me to a quick dinner. I dropped off my stuff in the hotel room, then headed back down to the lobby. And met up with my Aunt on the Casino Floor.

Next day - we went to the grad. Had lunch with my cousin's bf's family. Then headed back to the hotel to clean up and then headed toward the casino floor to start the gambling.

Before breaking for dinner, i was up 75, My cousin was up 85 and i'm not sure what my aunt and uncle had.

We had dinner, then went back to the floor for some more gambling fun. But at the end of the night i was down 175 and my cousin was down 100.....not a good showing after such a good start

Saturday - we had breakfast at the buffet, then went to the Gateway Arch.
Dude that thing is amazing. It doesn't look that amazing from far away - but when you get up close - it's freaking huge. It's size is really deceiving. So we took the tour - watched the two movies "Lewis and Clark," and "building of the arch," then we took a 4 min ride to the top of the arch in an MIB type elevator. (egg shaped with white circular chairs that could fit five people per transport egg) Took a few pictures at the top - then a 3 min ride back down.

After the arch - headed to Drewes frozen Custard. Dang man seriously the cremiest ice cream i've ever had. Then we went to "the loop" which is similar to telegraph in berkeley. After that we headed to the Galleria, which is essentially like any other large westfield mall.

Went to dinner at a sushi place near the Medical center. then headed back to the hotel for another night of gambling. I played for about 2 hours and ended up about winning $195. so i made up for all my loses and managed to walk away with an extra 20 bucks.

So it was a really fun weekend, and it was really nice to spend it with the extended family, whom i don't really get to see too often.

But the funny things is, i'll get to see them this weekend too.
I'll be gambling with them in Vegas :-D

Last Christmas?

So i just finished a jdrama: Last Christmas.
I actually started it in HK earlier this year when i went back. They were running it everyday - so i was up to episode 6 by the time i had to come back. I forgot about it for a while, and then i was reading around online and for some reason the title came back to me. So I downloaded it and voila - finished 11 episodes in two days.

for anyone that's into jdrama's i have to say that it was actually pretty good. Cheesy at some points, but what soap opera isn't.

Other than the jdrama, i've been playing Kingdom hearts 2. So far so good - i like the battle system, and the fact that Sora is dressed like Tidus from FF10, especially when you get the final form.....the transformation's are really neat, breaks up the monotony of killing.

Another game i'm about to revisit, is Metal Gear: Snake eater. A co-worker started playing it and got me all fired up about it. So i'll probably go back to that game. Seeing that i bought it and never really finished it.

As for work... work is interesting / disheartening. A lotta people got let go of recently, because they weren't "team players," or bullshit like that. So supposedly the people that are left are fully commited to the company. Riiiight......

So far so good.
Kingdom hearts is pretty neat....
They did a pretty good job of mixing the Final Fantasy World and Disney.
But the story is slightly confusing...

Seeing that the new game takes place after Chain of Memories for the Game Boy Advanced.

but the cool thing is - the game actually ties in the "extra movie" that you get after you find all the dalmations in the first game. Rememeber the Twin Keyblades!!!!!!

Lazy weekend

So far it's been an interesting week.
Construction on our new production office is finally underway. So with any luck - i'll have my own office back in about 2 and half months.

At work, I'm actaully designing some stuff finally, not so much in the racking - but - in the shop tools - currently working on a pneumatic clamping welding jig. So far we've got the A frame down - but still working on the clamping mechanisms, seeing that it has to be pretty robust to withstand a welding enviroment.

Other than work, things have been pretty good - watch'n anime - "24" - and playing halo2

Cleaning the house - finally building those racks that my work gave me way back when. Instead of being Lipo's desk tray - they're actually rack's in my office, garage, and storage closet.

Oh before i forget - SRI - if yer interested in a server bench - we actually designed one. I'll try and get you a PDF of the bench if yer interested.

Lastly,
Congrats to my co-worker Marlon, whose wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Crazy - to think that Marlon is only 2 months older than me....weird ....

So i've had a Nokia N70 for the past four months and i've had the idea to sync it with my computer. But there was a problem - i needed two things. 1) Get a blue tooth to usb 2) Modify the Isync library so that isnyc will recognize my phone. So the first one took me about three months - trying to find a good deal on a usb adaptor... cuz i wasn't about to spend 39.99 for something that i would use just to sync my phone. Luckily buy.com came through - and i got one for 19 bucks. Next, i had to do some reasearh on how to get isync to recognize my phone. So i searched the internet and voila!!!
DIY iSync Phone Plugin came to the rescue. Now my phone sync's perfectly with my comp. Address book - calendar - etc... it's true greatness.

Yay - 2 hours tonight

In the past few weeks I've gone through a 24 binge.
I finished season 1 in about 2 days
i'm half way through season 2
and i have season 3 on standby

so far i've only spent three days on it - so hopefully i'll be all caught up by the time season five ends.

Other than 24 - i've been looking for a few new gundams to build - so far i have my eye on two Zeta Gundam Models - Spec A and Spec C - they look similar - but man they're badass....
you should should check it out.

THat's it for now - gotta build a couple racks in the house so i have some more storage - so i'll write more later.

This weekend was pretty fun.
Went to Mount Baldy - and Snowboarded for the first time in probably 15 years.
It was actually scary when i went up the intermediate slopes.
But it was seriously like riding a bike - i broke my butt the first time down - but every run after that was fine - can't carve worth crap - but hey - it's my first time, essentially.

other than that - just prepping for Jose's bday on wednesday...man it's gonna be a night that i probably won't remember.

Finished the Sky Grasper for my Aile Striker Rouge... so the kit is now complete - just gotta figure out how to place this monstrous thing in / or on my display case - not to mention i still want to mod the thing to accept a few more led's :-D and program the LED's to blink on certain intervals - mmm - that should be fun.

Allen's coming down this coming weekend. So we'll be able to do some catching up. And i get to show off my semi-new house.

This week should be pretty un-eventful - Acting boss is still in Tenessee so i'm home free for a while.

That's about it for now - hope everyone was able to make the quick transition over here... and hopefully now that it's easier to post - i'll do it more often.
